HCA Healthcare | TriStar Division plans to open ER facility in Lebanon

  • TriStar Summit Medical Center announces plans to apply for a Certificate of Need with the Tennessee Health Facilities Commission to establish a new $18 million emergency room in Lebanon.

TriStar Summit Medical Center plans to apply for a Certificate of Need with the Tennessee Health Facilities Commission to establish a new $18 million freestanding emergency department in Lebanon.

The proposed building would be built at the intersection of Willard Hagan Drive and South Hartman Drive in Wilson County, according to TriStar, which is part of HCA Healthcare.

If approved, the TriStar Lebanon emergency room will be a department of TriStar Summit Medical Center’s main campus in Hermitage. The Lebanon facility will be open 24 hours, seven days a week. All major insurance providers, including TennCare, will be accepted according to a news release from HCA Healthcare | TriStar Division.

Facility plans include:

  • 11 treatment rooms, including one trauma room
  • Laboratory
  • Imaging services
  • Nurses station
  • Support spaces

Growth and rising healthcare demand are reasons to move ahead on the Lebanon emergency room facility, said Cindy Bergmeier, chief executive officer of TriStar Summit Medical Center, said in a news release.

TriStar Summit already operates TriStar Mt. Juliet ER in Wilson County, which has experienced increased demand with more than 22,700 patient visits in 2024.

On June 25, TriStar Summit received approval from the Tennessee Health Facilities Commission to convert an outpatient surgery department in Lebanon to an ambulatory surgery center. The Lebanon Center for Outpatient Surgery is located on an adjacent property to the proposed site of the TriStar Lebanon ER.

Multiple residential developments that includes a new Del Webb community under construction along South Hartmann Drive and just south of Interstate 40, increase the need for an ER facility at the proposed location, according to Lebanon Mayor Rick Bell.

“At the City of Lebanon, our focus is quality of life for our citizens,” Bell said. “However, that can be defined in numerous ways. We can offer many amenities, but health care must come from experienced professionals and investment in that field. The more health care options we have, the better Lebanon will be.”

TriStar Summit also has a CareNow Urgent Care and the Centennial Women’s Group physician practice in Lebanon.
