LYNDHURST, Ohio — Ted Ginn Jr. — a star Ohio State receiver and kick returner who followed up his collegiate career by playing 14 seasons in the NFL — paid a visit to two South Euclid-Lyndhurst schools Tuesday (Sept. 30) to challenge and motivate students to attain fitness goals.
A Glenville High School graduate, Ginn now serves as the Fitness Challenge captain for the new Team Tressel Fitness Challenge under Ohio Lt. Gov. — and his coach when a Buckeye — Jim Tressel.
During his NFL career, Ginn played for the Miami Dolphins, San Francisco 49ers, Carolina Panthers, Arizona Cardinals, New Orleans Saints and, to finish his career in 2020, the Chicago Bears.
Ginn visited the school district’s fourth- through eighth-grade physical education classes.
He met with students in an assembly format, during which he encouraged, demonstrated and motivated youngsters to set and achieve their fitness challenge goals.
He also visited Memorial Junior High School that morning in the school’s new gymnasium, then moved on to the Greenview Upper Elementary School Campus in the afternoon.
Ten students in both buildings were selected and approved to help demonstrate and participate in fitness exercises with Ginn.
These students were afforded the opportunity to take photos and get autographs from Ginn.

Accompanying Ginn was former Brush High School football and basketball star Roy Hall, who also went on to play wide receiver at Ohio State.
Hall completed his college career in the 2007 BCS National Championship game.
Hall played in 2007-2008 with the Indianapolis Colts and is now a national motivational speaker, team reflection leader for the Ohio State football team, and the executive director and co-founder of the Driven Foundation, which helps families and children throughout Ohio, including in South Euclid and Lyndhurst.
Superintendent Dominick Kaple said of Ginn’s and Hall’s visit, “We hope this experience can help encourage our students to set healthy life routines that will last a lifetime.”
